GTS Drilling and partners rally behind Ghanaian excellence through Azumah Nelson’s ZoomZoom Clinics
July 10, 2024In October 2024, the women of GTS Drilling embarked on a mission to raise awareness about breast cancer and promote early detection through a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign and Screening held at Behenase. As part of Geodrill’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainable community engagement, this event reflected the organization’s drive to prioritize the health and well-being of women both within the company and in the surrounding communities.
Event Overview:
Breast cancer remains a critical health issue, especially for women, and October is globally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In alignment with this, the GTS Women’s Group took the lead in organizing a breast cancer screening event on October 13th, 2024, targeting Geodrill employees and the Behenase community women. This initiative aimed to educate, screen, and encourage women to take proactive steps toward breast health.
Key Elements of the Campaign:
Education and Community Outreach: The campaign began with announcements across the community, aimed at encouraging participation and spreading awareness about breast cancer. Women in the community were educated on the importance of early detection, self-examinations, and regular screenings to reduce the risk and impact of breast cancer.
Free Screening: The highlight of the event was the free breast cancer screening provided to over 300 women in the Behenase community. Nurses and healthcare professionals from Geodrill, supported by local medical staff, performed the screening, ensuring every woman had access to this life-saving examination.
Creating a Supportive Environment: Participants received refreshments, and the event featured a comfort-based supportive atmosphere, with tents, chairs, and decorations creating a welcoming space for the attendees. The women of Geodrill, dressed in pink polo shirts and caps, were present to facilitate the event and demonstrate solidarity with the cause.
